“One GEA CT China Team” team-building activity

One GEA CT China Team team-building activity

On Nov. 11-12, 2011, GEA CT China had a great experience in boosting the “One GEA CT China Team”. The team-building activity took place near the Qinglong Hu Lake of Fangshan in Beijing.

The main activities focused on creating better teamwork. It began with strengthening self-belief and trust in yourself to be able to be part of a team, with activities such as the “Broken Bridge” (see picture) and “Passing Through Electric Wire” with the help of the entire team, followed by other exercises such as “Puzzle Shapes”, “Helping Hands” etc. All these activities fully demonstrated “teamwork”, “communication” and “trust” while helping to improve “leadership” and “organizing skills”. They also helped to strengthen the GEA values of “excellence, responsibility and passion”.

For the GEA CT China team of around 35 people, including 50% new colleagues in the last 4-6 months, this was absolutely necessary to strengthen the group. One third of the employees even work in different cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Changzhou and Qingdao. Many of our new colleagues had never met before and only corresponded through emails and telephone calls. This team-building activity helped us to understanding each other and enhanced cohesion within the “One GEA CT China Team”. In view of the development in China, we will probably need similar programs again due to the fact that our China organization will double in size to more than 100 people in the coming year.

I think we are now no longer merely a company, not just people coming from different departments. My colleagues are now like brothers and sisters in a warm, big family,

as Aric Wu, a GEA CT Area Sales Manager based in Shanghai, explained. Those words expressed what we all felt.

The only regret is that the 2 days were so short, but the good memories remain. We look forward to more get-togethers like this in the future.
