Faster, Daddy, Faster!

Faster, Daddy, Faster!

Andreas Schlieper (52), Head of Manufacturing and Maintenance at GEA Maschinenkühltechnik GmbH, passed on his motor bike virus to his son. When his four year old son visited his father's favorite track for the first time – the north ring of the Nürburgring – he said: “Dad, this is a race track. You really have to go fast!”

According to Schlieper, many GEA employees are infected with this particular virus. “Whether executive or welder, boys will be boys when it comes to speed!” Just putting the pedal to the metal is not the issue here. “Only someone who handles a car well at low speed can drive safely at high speed,” he says. He knows how dangerous his sport is: in 1986 he suffered five bone fractures in a crash at the Hockenheimring. That is why he wants to spare others from a bad experience such as this – as instructor for safe driving at the German Council for Road Safety e. V. (DVR).

Similarly, we cultivate the transfer of know-how in all areas of daily conduct at GEA Group. Experienced employees share their knowledge with “newcomers,” and experts instruct new colleagues in their respective areas of expertise. Only excellent training allows for a jump start in the company and that has its advantages for colleagues, the company, and, last but not least, our customers!

To top it all off, even our female colleagues are now enthusiastic about technical issues – no matter if executive or welder.
